Nitobe Memorial Garden

Join us in visiting UBC’s Nitobe Memorial Garden, a traditional Japanese stroll garden and authentic tea house. Recognized as one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside Japan, the garden honors Dr. Inazō Nitobe, who aimed to bridge cultures across the Pacific and promote Japanese culture in the West.

Designed by renowned landscape architect Kannosuke Mori, every element was thoughtfully placed to harmonize with nature. Visitors can enjoy the garden’s seasonal beauty, from cherry blossoms in spring to vibrant autumn foliage. Nitobe Memorial Garden offers a glimpse into Japanese culture while highlighting an important aspect of Japanese-Canadian history.
